Claude Code Retires Opus 4.8 Fast Mode on November 30. After That, Old Scripts Error Out; They Do Not Fall Back.
Claude Code 2.1.316 deprecates fast mode for Opus 4.8 as of October 30, 2026 and removes it on November 30. The changelog is explicit about what happens next: fast-mode requests on Opus 4.8 return an error and do not fall back to standard Opus 4.8. Anthropic's guidance is to migrate to Opus 5.5 to keep the speedup. Whether the same sunset applies to the API outside Claude Code is not stated. We read the changelog.

The Claude Code Extension in Cursor's Marketplace Was a Backdoor for About 11 Hours. Uninstalling It May Not Be Enough.
Cursor's security notice says that from about 2:27 AM to 1:35 PM Pacific on October 29, tampered versions 2.1.312 and 2.1.313 of the Anthropic.claude-code extension for Windows and macOS were served from Cursor's VS Code Extension Marketplace. They were not built by Anthropic. The payload collected host and user details, appended an attacker SSH key labeled svc-telemetry, tried to open a reverse tunnel, and installed persistence that retries about every 60 seconds. Cursor says the tunnel mostly failed but the key, persistence, and beacon landed, and that uninstalling may not be sufficient. The notice now lists Linux indicators while its remediation scripts still target macOS and Windows. We read Cursor's notice and Microsoft's write-up.

Anthropic made Claude Code Review generally available on October 15 for Team and Enterprise, with at least $10,000 in promotional credits. The help center fills in the rest: $10,000 to $50,000 based on seats, Enterprise only, github.com repos only, and forfeited org-wide if you connect GitHub Enterprise Server or a .ghe.com data-residency instance, which the product itself supports. There is no per-review price, repos added from the admin page review every push by default, and credits last 30 days from the claim, not until the January deadline. What to set before you turn it on.
